How to Create a Character Thread - "Character Kiera owned by Kiera"

Character creation is a four step process requiring 3 forum posts and subsequent chat session with a GM/Moderator.  Please post your initial post in the "Cheddar Knights" group for a Family Friendly Character (PG-13 would be Jedi Knights Who Say Ni group, and Adult/R would be Jedi Knights of the Round Table group), your post will be moved to the relevant Character Sheet group by a moderator after Character creation is finalized.  All Character Creation threads should be titled "Character (Character name) owned by (user name)".   Text in Blue below is an example of what post creation for my own character Kiera would be.

1. To begin a character enter your Character name, Species (please arrange a chat with a moderator if you are unsure what species you want to be or unsure if there are stats available for a species you would like to use), Class (if you need help deciding this can be done in the chat session), character's gender, age, height (can be determined by GM if preferred), weight (can be determined by GM if preferred), hair color, eye color, skin color, and any background information you would like to use for the character.  
   
   
2. In a second post you will roll 7 4d6, drop the lowest dice, drop the lowest total. - This means you will roll 4 dice with 6 sides each. And you will do this 7 times. The result that is the lowest will not be used for your character's stats. Details about all of this are below.
   This will give you your ability scores.  
   There are two options to roll dice on the forum.  Please note that dice cannot be rolled in the first post on a thread.
   The first option to roll dice on the forum is to use the tool bars within a post.  At the top of your post window near the text editing option should be a white button with an elipses ( ... ) clicking that button should expand your tool bars. In the 2nd of the new tool bars shown you should see a grey die at the end of the tool bar.  Clicking this die will pull down a drop down with different die types to select from.  If the instructions for rolling say xd6 you would select d6.  This action should place two sets of brackets into the main body of your post.  Between these two brackets you would input the value of x.  If the instructions state that you should roll y xd6 then you would use the instructions above y times.  So if y were 2 you would have (roll="D6")x(/roll) (roll="D6")x(/roll) with brackets rather than parentheses.  Then you simply make any comments you would like about the rolls you are making and their purpose, and hit send.
   The second option to roll dice on the forum is to use the tool at the bottom of the post window.  When making a reply on a pre-existing thread slightly below the Preview and Send buttons there should be a bar that says "Roll" on this bar should be "Roll #1: (dropdown box) Dice Rolls (text box) and a small plus button.  To roll xd6 you would select d6 on the dropdown and then put the value of x into the text box next to Dice Rolls.  If the instructions state that you should roll y xd6 then you would click the little plus sign after setting up your first roll and repeat it exactly to the value of y.  So if y were 2 you would have Roll #1: d6 Dice Rolls: x (push plus and a new line will appear) Roll #2: d6 Dice Rolls x.  Once your dice rolls are selected please ensure you comment in the text box with a relevant comment to the roll, and click send.
   
   
3. In a third post you will assign ability scores using the dice rolls from post two above.  
   
   
4. There are two options to set up your Skills, feats, talents, Starting Credits (money) and gear.
   
   
   
   • For those new/newer to Role Playing, especially in a text based manner and/or for those who do not have time to comb the materials and select specific skills, feats, talents, and equipment there is the option of having an admin/moderator assign these to your character.  If selecting this option please be as detailed as possible in your character description so that the admin can select the skills, feats, talents, and equipment that will best suit your individual character.
     
   • For those who are more familiar with role playing and/or those who would like to fine-tune their character these options will be carefully selected in chat with a moderator.  This can be performed here using the chat feature, on Facebook, via a PM, or via email.

Background information:  Though still a fairly young girl at 7 years old when Kharys was killed and her Imperial reign on Skye ended, Kiera was very much aware of the resistance effort.  After Kharys and her Imperial reign ended and a more traditional leadership returned to Sky during Kiera's early adolescence she found she did not much prefer the traditional ways either.  Kiera always felt that there had to be something else out there that wasn't in one extreme or the other.  She found her own ways of rebelling as a youth by spending time in the spaceports of Skye and teaching herself by watching and assisting pilots and mechanics there.  She became fairly adept at mechanics and it was her desire to eventually follow these visitors off planet and see what else the Galaxy had to offer.   She did so at the first opportunity that presented itself.

In the previous post you can see that my roll results were as follows with the lowest results highlighted in red. These are the results that will not be counted, please note that the totals indicate the total without the dropped lowest die with the roll:

Roll 1: 1 , 6 , 5 , 2 = 13
Roll 2: 6 , 1 , 5 , 5 = 16
Roll 3: 3 , 4 , 2 , 1 = 9
Roll 4: 3 , 5 , 6 , 1 = 14
Roll 5: 5 , 3 , 4 , 1 = 12
Roll 6: 5 , 5 , 3 , 5 = 15
Roll 7: 4 , 5 , 2 , 4 = 13

Thus leaving me with stat roll totals to be used of 13, 16, 14, 12, 15, and 13. To be used for abilities Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. To understand how these skills are used please look at a completed character sheet.

You will choose which roll to use in which position, but once decided and placed on the character sheet these numbers can only be changed by character leveling. Species modifiers need to be considered when assigning rolls to abilities, for the S'kytri species I have a +2 Strength, -2 Con, and -2 Wisdom modifier, please see their use in the example below:


Strength: Roll 1 used = 13 plus species modifier +2 = 15
Dexterity: Roll 6 used = 15
Constitution: Roll 7 used = 13 minus species modifier -2 = 11
Intelligence: Roll 2 used = 16
Wisdom: Roll 4 used = 14 minus species modifier -2 = 12
Charisma: Roll 5 used = 12

Roll 3 dropped as lowest result.

From the information provided in the 3 initial character creation posts (see the 3 previous posts) the following information will also be deduced and filled in on your character sheet by an admin or moderator:

• Ability modifiers: these are based on your ability scores with 10-11 being no modifier, 12-13 being +1 etc up and 8-9 being -1 etc down.
  
• Hit Points: this number is determined by your class and your constitution modifier
  
• Reflex Defense: broken down on character sheet
  
• Fortitude Defense: broken down on character sheet
  
• Will Defense: broken down on character sheet (please note that the S'kytri have a +1 species modifier to Will Defense which can be seen in the "Misc." portion on my Will Defense).
  
• Damage Threshold: Equal to Fortitude Defense
  
• Base Attack Bonus: Based on your class
      -  Your Melee attack bonus is your Base Attack Bonus plus your Strength Modifier
      -  Your Ranged attack bonus is your Base Attack Bonus plus your Dexterity Modifier
  
• Speed: This is based on your character's species and the size of said species, most will have a speed of 6 squares per round, smaller creatures less and larger creatures theoretically more.
  
• Force Points: All Level 1 characters receive one Force Point per day, which is lost if not used that day.
  

Next you will either request that an admin or moderator complete your character for you assigning skills, feats, talents, etc based on the description you have created for your character or you will arrange a chat with an admin or moderator to assign your own skills.

If you choose to assign your own skills then in a chat session with an admin or moderator you will do the following:

1. Select Skills:  Based on your class and intelligence (each trained skill adds a +5 bonus to rolls using that skill)
   
2. Select Feats:  Based on your class and your choice of 2 other feats.
   
3. Select a Talent:  Based on your class Talent list
   
4. Select starting Languages: Based on your species and Intelligence modifier
   
5. Determine Starting Credits and Gear:  Starting Credits are based on your class and starting equipment will be purchased with these credits.  The Admin or Moderator assisting you will inform you of which dice to roll and you will make another post with your credit roll, please see following post.

Final note, for any special requests or considerations for starting characters please discuss individually with the admins. If you want to start with something above and beyond what would be standard fare for a starting character be prepared to forfeit something in return. Please see Eshne's character sheet for an example, she started with a pet Dark Wolf but forfeited all starting credits.

Character sheets for secondary or any additional characters will be created and maintained on Google Docs via a spreadsheet available to be viewed but not edited by anyone with the link.
